Camolese, a Torino coach in 1997, from 2000 to 2002 and then again in 2009 was surprised by the impact of the ex-Southampton forward.

“I didn’t know Che Adams. He surprised me; they did well to find him,” the ex-Italian coach told Gazzetta.

“He has adapted well to Italian football. At first, he played behind Zapata, linking up with the midfield, but now he plays as the main striker and knows how to connect with his teammates.

“Vanoli was smart to realize that after Zapata’s injury, something needed to change,” Camolese continued.

“He did so by switching to a four-man defence, pushing Lazaro into midfield, and placing two attacking midfielders to support Che Adams, who was initially supposed to be a link-up striker but ended up playing as the main forward.”

Camolese was also happy with the approach of Cesare Casadei, one of the Granata January signings.

“He is a promising, modern player with great physicality but also technical ability, he’s a reliable presence in aerial duels,” he noted.

“Torino could be the club where he confirms the qualities he showed in youth football.

“He reminds me of Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić, who was often targeted to assist with attacking runs,” Camolese concluded.

“Torino have many options. Casadei is very strong also when playing with the ball on the ground.”
