Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic set to leave the club and join Strasbourg on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.
Petrovic made 31 appearances in all competitions last season after arriving from MLS side New England Revolution in a £12.5m deal.
However, he has been informed that he does not feature in the plans of new head coach Enzo Maresca, who has named Robert Sanchez as Chelsea’s goalkeeper for the opening fixtures of the Premier League campaign.
Chelsea have also signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal for a £20m fee, leaving Petrovic free to move on.
The Serbia international is now set to sign on loan for Strasbourg, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The French side are also owned by the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital-led BlueCo, and have already signed Caleb Wiley and Andrey Santos on loan from the West Londoners this summer. Strasbourg are currently under the management of ex-Fulham and Hull defender, Liam Rosenior.
Petrovic’s arrangement is for a one-year loan and the goalkeeper will return to Chelsea in 2025. He will become the second goalkeeper to leave Chelsea on loan this week, after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s move to Bournemouth.
Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling are exploring options before Friday’s 11pm (BST) deadline for transfers, after being informed that they are free to leave Chelsea.
Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja are also surplus to requirements, though the latter’s loan move to Ipswich Town has stalled. Chalobah, meanwhile, could remain at Chelsea amid the professionalism he has shown since being left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Chelsea also hope Romelu Lukaku will finalise a move to Napoli, while the Blues remain interested in bringing in Victor Osimhen from the Italian side in the opposite direction.
