The defender came through PSV’s youth ranks and broke into the first team last season. Buurman made 11 appearances for PSV in the Azerion Vrouwen Eredivisie. She was an Eredivisie Cup runner-up with the club last season.

On the international stage, Buurman is a member of The Netherlands’ Under-20 squad. She is currently representing The Orange Lionesses at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

After joining Chelsea, Buurman said “This is the perfect step for my career. Chelsea’s vision for my development aligns perfectly with my own.

“Over the past year, it went rapidly, and I’m excited to take the next step with Chelsea’s support. Chelsea is a top club and the reigning champion of England. I feel honoured that such a big club has come forward at this stage. However, I’m happy to spend another year at PSV, continuing to develop at the highest level in the Netherlands.”

Buurman is Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
