Como are reportedly considering a move for Lazio left-back Luca Pellegrini after failing to close a deal for Alex Valle.
Despite starting his career at Roma, the 25-year-old is a self-proclaimed Lazio childhood supporter. The Italian eventually fulfilled his dream by joining his beloved club in January 2023. While Juventus still own his card, the Biancocelesti have an obligation to buy him at the end of the season for circa €4 million. However, Lazio can still sell the player and repay the Bianconeri later.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Como have emerged as a surprising suitor for Pellegrini whom they consider an alternative to their main left-back target Valle. Cesc Fabregas has been keen to sign his young Spanish compatriot who is owned by Barcelona but currently plying his trade on loan at Celtic.
Nevertheless, the Serie A new boys haven’t been able to finalize the operation for the 20-year-old, so they have now enquired about Pellegrini, who is also well-admired by Fabregas. So it remains to be seen if Lazio would be open to negotiating a transfer, but many observers wouldn’t rule out a sale to unlock the infamous ‘liquidity index’ which has been hampering the club’s January dealings.
If the Italian left-back ends up leaving Formello, Marco Baroni would have a ready-made replacement in Elseid Hysaj who could be permanently reinstated in the squad. The Albanian is a versatile full-back, so he’s capable of serving as Nuno Tavares’ understudy on the left flank.
