A crunch meeting will take place today involving Inter Milan,  AC Milan and Mayor Giuseppe Sala to decide the future of San Siro.

The mayor has been hoping to convince the two clubs to remain within his domain rather than build their own stadiums on the outskirts of Milano.

Sala entrusted WeBuild with the project. The building company presented a detailed study to the two Serie A giants back in June.

The plan would allow the stadium to remain active during a four-year renovation project. It would also eventually transfer the ownership to Milan and Inter.

The two clubs have been reflecting on the project for months. They’re now about to render their decision to WeBuild and Sala on Friday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Italian champions will be represented in the summit by the club’s Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello alongside Oaktree officials.

Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani will also attend the meeting along with RedBird representatives.

As reported in recent days, the two clubs could be leaning towards a different solution. They might decide that building a new stadium in the San Siro area could be more beneficial than renovating the old Giuseppe Meazza ground.

Moreover, the pink newspaper believes neither club has given up on its own separate project. Milan are still toying with the idea of building a ground in San Donato.

Furthermore, the stadium dossier became increasingly important at Inter following Oaktree’s takeover. Hence, the Nerazzurri are still evaluating their plans in Rozzano.

So we shall see if Sala will succeed in his mission to convince the two clubs to ditch their exit plans and keep them at San Siro.
