The Whites failed to secure a Premier League return and with that in mind, vultures may be circling for some of their best players, potentially hoping that they can strike a reasonable agreement to lure them away from West Yorkshire.

The Dutchman is the Leeds player likely to attract the most interest following Archie Gray's departure, having established himself as one of the best players in the Championship last term, if not the best.

He was a lethal figure in front of goal and played a big part in guiding the club to the play-off final, and although he did perform very well at Wembley, he can be extremely proud of the season he had.

It remains to be seen whether he's already made his final competitive appearance for the Whites, but at this stage, he's still a Leeds player.

We take a look at the latest news on his situation below.

Brighton and Hove Albion have decided not to make a move for Summerville during this window, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The Seagulls held talks with the Whites regarding a potential deal for the Dutchman, which initially put them in a good position to go on and win the race.

But TEAMtalk have reported that these talks haven't progressed and with this in mind, the south-coast club have now turned their attention elsewhere.

Newcastle United want to sign a winger this summer - and have been linked with a move for Summerville.

The Magpies are keen to bring in a player who can operate on the right-hand side and even though Summerville played on the left last term, he could potentially do a good job on either wing.

However, it doesn't look as though the 22-year-old is at the top of Eddie Howe's target list for the summer, with Jarrod Bowen their number-one winger target at the moment, according to the Northern Echo.

Officials at St James' Park are prepared to make a "major" move for the England international later on in the window.

Crysencio Summerville's contract situation at Leeds United

In August 2022, the player put pen to paper on a four-year contract, extending his stay at Elland Road until the summer of 2026.

With this in mind, Leeds are in a fairly strong negotiating position in terms of Summerville during this window, but his valuation may start to decline in the next couple of windows if his contract continues to run down.

And with the club remaining in the second tier, the board could see this window as an opportunity to offload the player.

It would be a big blow for Farke to lose him, having seen him perform so well on the left-hand side last term, but a couple of players could step up and replace him if required.

Dan James and Willy Gnonto are alternative wing options - and it wouldn't be a surprise to see another winger or two arrive between now and the end of the window.

James performed very well on the left during the play-off final, so he may start regularly on that side if Summerville leaves.
