Baden-Württemberg's Karlsruher SC may receive some compensation for the loss of their (and the German second division's) top goalscorer earlier today. Local news portal "ka-news.de" reports that 1. FC Heidenheim may be preparing to send transfer bust Mikkel Kaufmann back to the Fächerstadt.

Heidenheim signed the Danish striker from 1. FC Union Berlin this past offseason. The 24-year-old managed only one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions. Union themselves only signed Kaufmann in the summer of 2023. He scored one goal in 19 appearances in the 2023/24 cycle.

The former FC Copenhagen man - despite his failures in the German first division - does have plenty of experience in the 2. Bundesliga during loan stints with both Karlsruhe and Hamburger SV. Kaufmann amassed an impressive twenty scorer points (10 goals and 10 assists) for KSC in the 2022/23 season.

The local news source claims that a loan is being discussed. Kaufmann remains under contract with Heidenheim through 2028. Union paid Copenhagen a reported €2.7 million to acquire him before selling him off for €1.25 million a year later.
