Everything had looked in place for Emran Soglo (19) to swap Olympique de Marseille for Chicago Fire this winter, however, according to a report from L’Équipe that move has now collapsed. The reasons why the transfer to the MLS club failed have not yet been disclosed.

Two clubs are thought to still be in the hunt for the England U20 left-back and he could still be on the way out at Les Phocéens. Opportunities have been limited at Marseille since the teenager looked to record a breakthrough season last year.

Soglo made nine appearances in total with two of those being starts for the southern side (once in the league against FC Metz and the other in the Europa League quarter-finals against Benfica).

However, Soglo has not made a further appearance for the club since Roberto De Zerbi was appointed head coach during the summer. The fullback has not even been included in a matchday squad and has struggled to make the team for the club’s reserves.
