Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer is expecting a tough test away to Hellas Verona in Serie A this afternoon.
The 35-year-old spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s return to Serie A action for the Nerazzurri.
Inter have now put another international break behind them.
The Nerazzurri are back in action after a couple weeks away. They return with a league match against Hellas Verona away at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.
The last time that Inter played at this stadium, they drew 2-2. That was a frenetic Serie A encounter on the final day of last season.
That match gave a demonstration of how hard Verona can push anyone in Serie A, including the big teams.
The Gialloblu are scrapping away to avoid relegation for yet another season.
And so far this season, Paolo Zanetti’s team have managed to give themselves a solid foothold in midtable.
Therefore, Inter will hardly be taking three points for granted in their return to action.
Inter will see winning as vital this afternoon. They need a victory to keep up in the crowded pack at the top end of the Serie A table – and put pressure on Juventus and AC Milan later today.
Inter keeper Sommer admitted that “We haven’t had a lot of time to train together” ahead of today’s match.
“But we’re used to these kinds of situations after an international break.”
“We’ll do our best to put in a good performance,” Sommer made clear.
“We’ll need to give our all.”
Meanwhile, Sommer called today’s opposition Verona “a very good team.”
“And they’re very strong at home.”
“They’ve gotten three of their four wins this season playing at home,” Sommer noted.
The Inter keeper stressed that “We need to find a balance between defense and attack.”
“We have to play our game and create chances,” he said.
