Assuming Southampton drop back down to the Championship come May, which is now all but set in stone, they’ll face an uphill battle to keep hold of one of their most prestigious talents.

Indeed, Tyler Dibling has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League, with 14 English clubs said to have inquired about his availability heading into the summer window. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have established their interest.

Manchester United are, perhaps unsurprisingly, among the host of sides credited with an interest in the youngster, who fits the bill of signings INEOS are looking to make: a young, up-and-coming star with plenty of top performances to his name in the top flight since making his breakthrough.

The Red Devils are also believed to have something of an upper hand in their pursuit, should they formally make an approach for Dibling when the window opens. Per Mail Sport, United’s ‘ace card’ is that technical director Jason Wilcox is well acquainted with the Saints starlet, 19, due to the time he spent at St. Mary’s as director of football.

United have already been keeping track of Dibling’s form

Alas, it’s up to INEOS chiefs to use such ties to their advantage. It may be more difficult to convince Dibling of a move given that European football next season is essentially ruled out unless United win the Europa League, as Liverpool and Manchester City are also firm admirers of the forward.

Old Trafford scouts joined several of their counterparts from rival clubs in watching Dibling in action for England’s U19s against Portugal on Monday.

What’s more, only last week did Fabrizio Romano confirm that United had sent their scouts to watch the player in action on numerous occasions this campaign. He revealed: It’s a complicated season for Southampton, but he’s still considered one of the best talents around.

“And so, for example, I heard several times about Man United, and also Liverpool sending their scouts to follow the player.”
