After winning nine consecutive games, Newcastle United finally had an off day as they lost to Bournemouth by 4-1 in their previous game. Their next game is scheduled against Southampton in the Premier League this weekend.
The Magpies are sixth on the points table and have a real chance of climbing up even further. They will be desperate to return to the winning ways on Saturday. However, it won’t be an easy fixture as it is away from home.
Defence
Nick Pope will be assessed before the match and if he fails to get the green light, Martin Dubravka will take charge between the sticks once again.
No changes in the full-backs in the lineup as both Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall take up their usual positions on the field. However, Fabian Schar is likely to come in place of Sven Botman to pair up with Dan Burn at the heart of the defence.

Midfield
Expect no change in the midfield unit as Sandro Tonali takes the deep-lying midfielder role again. He will have the companies of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park.
Attack
While Jacob Murphy is operating on the left wing, Anthony Gordon takes care of the other side of the pitch. In-form Alexander Isak’s position in the side is also very much secured as the striker.
Jamaal Lascelles (ACL), Callum Wilson (hamstring) and Harvey Barnes (muscle) are the confirmed absentees for the Magpies for this fixture while the participation of Nick Pope is still under doubt.
