Fiorentina have “set their sights” on Man United’s Victor Lindelof | OneFootball

Victor Lindelof has been standing at the transfer bus stop all summer, and now two have come along all at once.

The Swede’s employers at Manchester United have bought two new centre backs this summer, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, leaving him potentially the fifth choice centre back at the club behind them, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire.

This has led to rumours of his departure, although so far this summer, reports of concrete interest in him have been few and far between.

However, earlier today news broke of Eintracht Frankfurt’s interest in the defender, valued at €15 million by transfermarkt.com.

A few hours later and it is Serie A’s turn, with Gianluca di Marzio reporting that Fiorentina are keen on Lindelof.

The transfer guru wrote on his own site that “Fiorentina have set their sights on Lindelof.

“The player still has a year of contract with Manchester United, a club with which he has a salary of 3 million euros.

“At the moment, Fiorentina are working to understand the possible conditions of exit and a contribution to the salary at Manchester United.”

The last part of that sentence – “contribution to the salary” – suggests that the Tuscans might be thinking of a loan deal rather than a purchase.

However, given it is the last year of the Swede’s contract, a loan would only work if United were to extend his contract or if the redemption date was before his contract expires on June 30th next year.

Obviously it would be much better for United to get a straight sale for the 30 year old.

One potential solution could be a player exchange with Sofyan Amrabat, who is desperate to return to United and who has a similar market value.
