Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove is in stable condition after his shock medical emergency in yesterday’s Serie A match against Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. There will be further medical tests for the 22-year-old today.
Yesterday, a sudden collapse from Bove during a match against Inter shocked the world of football.
The Roma-owned midfielder had been in the Fiorentina starting eleven for the Serie A clash.
However, around the fifteenth minute of play, Bove collapsed unexpectedly.
This was not the result of contact. Rather, the 22-year-old was away from the action at the time.
Bove’s collapse caused emotional scenes of tension and fear, as players and staff from both teams worried about the midfielder’s condition. Bove was unconscious as medical staff rushed to attend to him.
Eventually, Bove was taken to hospital.
And yesterday, Fiorentina confirmed good news. Bove was able to regain consciousness.
The 22-year-old had not been conscious on the pitch at any point, or while being transported to hospital.
However, Bove did regain consciousness. Moreover, he has been extubated.
Initial tests confirm that Bove did not suffer any permanent neurological or cardiological damage.
However, there is still the mystery of exactly what caused Bove to collapse.
Further tests today will aim to determine the reason for the Fiorentina midfielder’s abrupt loss of consciousness.
