Manuel Akanji expressed that City ‘did a lot of things great’ and that they ‘need to focus on the positives’ after our Premier League clash with Everton ended 1-1.
Our only goal of the afternoon came on 14 minutes when Bernardo Silva’s deflected shot found the back of the net from a tight angle.
Before the first-half concluded, Iliman Ndiaye then levelled for Everton out of the blue for the visitors.
Early in the second-half, Erling Haaland had the chance to put us back ahead, but the Norwegian saw his penalty saved by Jordan Pickford.
“I don’t think we deserved this result no, I think we did a lot more in the game than Everton,” the Swiss international began.
“We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately we were only be able to score one goal and then we conceded a goal, out of basically nothing, but that’s how football is.
“I think this was a game that we were able to score three, four goals, but the shots didn’t want to go in.
“We need to believe until the last moment that we can win the match, but it wasn’t possible today.”
In his post-match interview with Amazon Prime after the match, Akanji was asked about City’s targets for the remainder of the campaign, and is confident that City will return to their best if they concentrate on what they do well.
"The season is not finished, we need to focus game by game and the next game against Leicester City will not be easy as well now, in the shape we are in.
“We need to focus on the positives, we did a lot of things great, we defended well and we attacked well, but were not able to finish as well as we wanted to or we could have scored three or four goals.”
