Enock Agyei certainly wasn't a well-known signing in the Vincent Kompany era, but he's now in the first team picture at Burnley
There weren't too many forgettable signings Vincent Kompany made for Burnley but Enock Agyei is certainly a young talent whose addition was overlooked amid a wealth of other arrivals.
Kompany revolutionised the Burnley squad, and with that came raft after raft of new signings, with his two summer transfer windows in charge seeing huge turnovers of players, while even after he left, the Clarets had to endure something similar as most of his signings departed.
That hasn't hindered Burnley too much on the pitch as they remain firmly in the automatic promotion race in the Championship, but it has seen a drastic drop-off in quality within the squad, as most of the Premier League squad has now left.
That's been music to the ears of some of the fringe players and new recruits, who've now been given a chance to cement a place in the team, where back in August they probably wouldn't have got the chance.
Agyei has certainly proved to be one of those players, being handed the chance to impress by Scott Parker amid a raft of injuries to attackers, and so far he's looking promising.
The young Belgian winger has been brought in from the cold by Parker, who recently handed him a Burnley debut as a second-half substitute away to Hull City.
He followed that up with a home debut against QPR last weekend, and although he failed to make a telling contribution in terms of contributing to a goal, he still made an impression on Burnley fans, who are so far excited by what they've seen of Agyei.
Understandably, no one expects the 19-year-old to come in and fire Burnley to promotion, but it's about getting minutes under his belt and experience if the Clarets are to see the best from him.
Signed from Anderlecht back in January 2023, Agyei has never really been given the chance to prove himself at Turf Moor, spending time on loan at K.V. Mechelen, before injury last season cruelly hampered his progress.
He's fit and firing now though, and the young winger could inject some life into a floundering Burnley attack.
Although Clarets fans hold some resentment towards Kompany for the way he left the club in the summer, there was no doubt that he has a keen eye for talent, as evidenced by the fact most of the players he brought to the club left for bigger things in the summer.
Clarets fans will now hope that Agyei falls into that category, and on the evidence so far, there's every chance he could do.
Blessed with all the attributes the modern-day winger needs - pace, trickery, strength - Agyei has the tools to succeed at this level, but he needs time.
A raw talent, the teenager has so far shown little to suggest he deserves a start, but he's shown signs off the right, that when he steps in off the left, he has an err of Manuel Benson about him.
Agyei was given the chance to impress as part of a first team-packed U21 side after the QPR game, and he marked the occasion with a goal, just another gentle nudge towards Parker that perhaps he's closer to being ready for a start than a lot of people envisaged.
