The 36-year-old opened up about the bittersweet moment following their European Super Cup triumph over Sevilla. Back then, he played alongside Lionel Messi and David Villa in the iconic Trident under Pep Guardiola.

Despite being a key player, Pedro later found himself as a valuable substitute during the era of MSN—Messi, Suarez, and Neymar—under Luis Enrique’s management.

“My departure from Barça was difficult because it was the club of my life and I had been there for many years.

“The president was with me, but the coach not so much. I like how I left, with the affection of my teammates and the fans,” said the forward.

Pedro loved life at Barcelona

Nostalgically, the former Barcelona star reminisced about his time at the Blaugrana club, cherishing moments shared with some of football’s greatest legends.

He expressed a fondness for the camaraderie and the privilege of being in the presence of such talent.

“Being lucky enough to be able to play with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta… to be able to score in all competitions and have a successful career in my first stage as a player makes me feel privileged.”

However, Pedro revealed a lingering regret from his departure—a missed opportunity to reach a century of goals for Barcelona.

He humorously recounted conversations with Xavi about a potential return to achieve this milestone, underscoring his attachment to the club and its unfinished business.

“I was one goal away from 100 with Barça. When Xavi was there, I told him to take me to take a penalty and I left. I was left with a thorn in my side about being able to close this story,” he revealed.

Pedro’s take on Yamal and Nico

Pedro’s career boasts remarkable achievements, including his role as a starter in Spain’s victorious World Cup campaign in 2010 and their Euro 2012 triumph.

He commended the current Spanish team, particularly their recent success as Euro finalists in Germany, highlighting their resilience and skill on the international stage.

“Lamine and Nico have that self-confidence, that desire to do well, that they enjoy … and they transmit it to the people who watch them. I hope they can complete this great tournament that they have had as a National Team.”

As Pedro continues to excel with Lazio, his reflections on Barcelona resonate deeply, reflecting on both personal milestones and the evolution of Spanish football.

His journey from Camp Nou to international accolades stands as a testament to his enduring impact on the sport and his unwavering passion for the game.
