Former Everton and Leeds United youth prospect departs MK Dons for Gent

Gent have announced the signing of 20-year-old English striker Max Dean. The forward has signed a deal until 2028 with the Belgian club and moves from MK Dons for an undisclosed fee. Prior to joining the MK Dons, Dean had been part of the Everton academy. He then moved to join Leeds United, where he went through the system until he appeared for the sides U21 team. In 38 games for the Yorkshire sides’ U21 squad, he scored 16 goals.

During the 2022/2023 season he joined MK Dons in League One, grabbing three goals in 11 games. The side were relegated from the third tier of English football, but Dean found his goalscoring boots in the fourth tier. In 29 league games he scored an impressive 15 goals and grabbed five assists. He also found the net for the side in the play-offs, however this came during a 5-1 home defeat to Crawley Town, with MK Dons losing a whopping 8-1 on aggregate.
