Christos Tzolis has been a fantastic signing for Club Brugge this season. The former Norwich and Fortuna Düsseldorf man scored his 13th goal in all competitions as the side beat Anderlecht 2-0 to kick-start their Championship play-off campaign. The result keeps them ahead of Union St Gilloise and puts pressure on Genk. Romeo Vermant made it 2-0 just three minutes after coming off the bench to give Nicky Hayen’s side a deserved three points. The result means that Anderlecht are unlikely to challenge for the title this year, although expectations of this happening prior to the game were slim.
Tzolis had a real breakout season last year at Fortuna, where his 24 goals in 37 games almost saw the side promoted to the Bundesliga. Fortuna picked up their purchase option that was agreed in the loan deal with Norwich before selling the talented Greek winger on to Club Brugge for the 2024/2025 season. He has certainly proved his worth both domestically and in Europe. With Tzolis in form, Club fans will be confident that they can push Genk all the way and potentially grab their 20th Belgian top flight title.
