Barcelona will also be looking to exact revenge on their local rivals, having lost both league encounters last season.

Miguel Gutierrez on Barcelona, Olmo

Heading into this encounter, Girona fullback Miguel Gutierrez offered his view on Barcelona and their spectacular start to the new season.

“Barcelona are in the lead and have won all their games, they started very well and have a great team and have strengthened their ranks with big signings,” he said (h/t Diario SPORT).

Explaining Barça tactical approach, Gutierrez highlighted the team’s ability to press higher and put pressure on the opponent’s defensive line.

“What we see is a team that presses a lot, especially up front, and is merciless in attack,” he said.

Formerly of Real Madrid, Gutierrez has enjoyed immense success since his move to Girona in 2022. In just two years, he has established himself as a first-team regular, racking up 80 appearances.

Even in the upcoming clash against Barcelona, one would expect the left-back to play a crucial role as Girona look to maintain their composure against a strong attack.

Dani Olmo, in particular, will be a threat to Girona considering his recent form and the fact that he could be available for the tie despite his recent knock.

When asked about Olmo, Gutierrez mentioned the player’s recent successes, stating, “Dani Olmo is a world-class player, he recently won the Euros and we all saw his level. He is a player I like a lot.”
