Galliani states Maldini will not leave in January and recalls referee error vs. Milan | OneFootball

Ahead of the January mercato opening, Adriano Galliani has spoken about Daniel Maldini’s chances of an early exit and the error that cost Monza against AC Milan.

Milan will be keeping an eye on the situation with Maldini given they have a sell-on clause for the youngster’s next move, and they could pocket around €6 million from a deal, should the midfielder move for the release clause in his contract.

Additionally, reports suggest they are considering making a move themselves.

However, it seems they will have to wait a while longer for a move to occur, with Monza having no interest in selling him mid-season. This is probably due to their poor start to the season.

Nevertheless, Galliani offered an update on the youngster’s future, and assured fans of the Biancorossi that he was not going to be moving soon, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“We must not now think about the market, we must think about scoring points until January. Then at the market we’ll see. Maldini is a player with great potential who is growing and can still improve a lot. In January there’s no clause: he’ll finish the year at Monza, then we’ll see next year.”

In addition to this words about Maldini, the CEO also addressed the recent poor performances, and noted that his side had been unlucky against Milan.

“Monza is playing well. The last three games against three important teams like Atalanta, Milan and Lazio we played them at least on equal terms. Useless to remember again the acknowledged refereeing errors that cancelled us a goal in Bergamo and a goal with Milan, but we are playing well. We have fewer points than we deserve, but this is the classification.”
