Earlier this summer, Girona agreed a loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Bryan Gil. The 23-year-old was seen as the replacement for Savinho, who joined Manchester City after his successful loan spell at Montilivi. However, club officials have been keen to sign a second winger to complete with Gil, Viktor Tsygankov and Christian Portu.

They are about to get their man. Yaser Asprilla is the player that Girona have wanted for some time, and according to Diario AS, an agreement has been reached with Watford. An exact fee is not known, but the deal is believed to be worth in the region of €20m, which would make him the club’s record signing. A sell-on clause for the EFL Championship side will also be included.

Asprilla will travel to Catalonia to complete a deal, and he could be in contention to make his debut for Girona during their MD2 clash against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
