Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is eyeing a significant move to bolster the team’s defence with the addition of Bayer Leverkusen’s standout defender, Jonathan Tah, claims a report from SPORT.
According to the outlet, Flick is actively advocating for this signing as part of Barcelona’s summer transfer plans.
It must be noted that Tah is set to become a free agent at the end of the current season, having chosen not to renew his contract with the German club.
However, Barcelona are not alone in the chase, as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also interested. The defender is reportedly evaluating his options between joining the Catalan side or Bayern, both clubs with strong reputations in their respective leagues.
Flick’s influence could be a deciding factor, as he is said to hold Tah in high regard and sees him as a key addition to Barcelona’s backline.
Sources suggest that Tah has already turned down offers from clubs in Italy, including Inter Milan and Juventus, as he seems uninterested in playing in Serie A.

Instead, he appears set on either continuing his career in the Bundesliga with Bayern or making a move to La Liga with Barcelona.
Real Madrid briefly considered signing Tah during the January window due to injuries in their defence, but stepped back, unwilling to spend more than €10 million when Tah could potentially be available for free this summer.
Barcelona had initially shown interest in Tah toward the end of the last summer transfer window, but Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price was deemed too high given his contract was nearing its expiration.
Flick, however, has remained interested, seeing Tah as a promising fit for Barcelona’s style of play, as he brings a defensive skill set that Flick believes can strengthen Barcelona’s overall gameplay.
By securing him on a free transfer, Barcelona could add considerable quality to their defence without impacting their budget significantly.
Flick’s familiarity with Tah’s playing style and skills further enhances the potential of this move, making the German defender a strategic signing for the Blaugrana.
