“He will be in trouble” – Gary Neville has no sympathy for key Man United figure

Gary Neville has given a warning to Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League and have struggled to find consistency all season.
With Amorim not being given a proper pre-season and a summer transfer window, Neville has given some leeway to the United boss.
However, the football pundit feels that Amorim will have no excuses next season if his team fails to perform.
The former Man United defender wants the Red Devils to at least make it to the Champions League next season.
Amorim needs more time at the club and there is no doubt about that. He needs to be given the backing in the summer transfer window as well.
If he gets that and still underperforms, Neville feels he will be in trouble at the club.
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the Manchester derby, Neville said:
“I think Amorim just knows the reality that if it’s like this next season, he will be in trouble.
“At this moment, he’s got some leeway given to him and rightly so.
“He’s inherited a group of players who are already down and out, he’s implementing a new system and shape halfway through the season which is never easy.
“He’s not a had a pre-season with them or a proper chance to cultivate the squad and make it. This system is so unique , you need specialists.
“There’s a lot of work to do for Amorim to get to a point where he is comfortable. But he knows that if Man Utd are in the bottom half of the table next season, he won’t have the luxury to say ‘I’m building for the future.’ He has to deliver a good season next year.
“That’s not winning the league, but he has to get them up to the Champions League based on what’s been put into the squad.”

The Portuguese manager has shown signs of life at the club and the standards are still massively poor.
There could be an argument made in favour of Amorim that he still does not have the players he wants at the club and he joined when Erik ten Hag had already done the damage at the club.
But come next season, he may not be able to have that excuse and results will matter.
United could be left behind if their rivals improve their squads heavily this summer which is highly expected.
Some big decisions need to be taken at the end of the season and that could set the tone for the club in the upcoming years.
