Moses is set to depart Kenilworth Road this summer
Ex-Nigerian international wing-back Victor Moses looks set to depart Luton Town in the summer, despite only joining the Championship club at the start of this season.
Moses has had a fruitful career up to this point, with spells at huge clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool and Inter Milan, as well as time spent with the likes of Fenerbahçe and Spartak Moscow.
His capture was viewed as somewhat of a coup for Luton last September, as they snapped him up on a one-year deal from the free agent market to add some impressive depth and quality to their struggling squad.
The 34-year-old has had his moments with the Hatters this season, but he has not impressed as much as many supporters would have imagined. Moses' last appearance for the club came in mid-January, and he has not even made the matchday squad since, as boss Matt Bloomfield looks to guide Luton away from the drop zone to avoid a shock successive relegation.
Africafoot have recently reported that Moses will not renew his contract at the club ahead of its June expiry date, and will instead look to explore new opportunities elsewhere. His representatives have told the source that he wants to end his time at Kenilworth Road "on a good note," but it remains to be seen if he will play again before the end of the campaign.
Moses signed a one-year deal with the Hatters last September, but despite his prestigious past, he has made just 18 appearances for the club so far, with one goal to his name.
According to Capology's estimates, the 34-year-old earns a weekly wage of around £25,000 at Luton right now. That works out at around £1,300,000 earned each year, but given that he is only set to be at the club for nine months, the actual figure may well be slightly less.
Moses actually took a paycut to join the Hatters, having been on an estimated £31,520 per week while at Spartak Moscow. This was likely due to him being a free agent, after he left the Russian Premier League side at the end of his contract in June.
He spent three seasons in the Russian capital with Spartak, and so earned £1,639,055 each year, and around £4,917,165 across his entire spell at the club.
Given his status as a player who has played 38 times for his country, as well as 220 times in the Premier League and in the Champions League and Europa League, it comes as no shock to know that Moses is one of Luton's highest-paid players right now.
The 34-year-old is among a group of Hatters players on an estimated £25,000 weekly wage, with only four players at the club that are believed to outright earn more than him at the club. Capology state that Tahith Chong, Jacob Brown and Marvelous Nakamba all earn £30,000 per week as their joint-highest earners, while star left-wing-back Alfie Doughty is on an estimated £27,500 each week.
Among those that are believed to earn the same as Moses are Shandon Baptiste and goalkeepers Thomas Kaminski and Tim Krul. Even though Moses did feel like a shrewd signing when he was first brought in by ex-Hatters boss Rob Edwards, he has failed to live up to expectations, and many at Luton will likely be happy that he is set to leave this summer, so his wages are off their books.
