Brian Sørensen was full of admiration for his Everton side following their fourth consecutive win at Anfield against bitter rivals Liverpool.
Goals from Katja Snoejis and Karen Holmgaard proved to be the difference in the game, despite Liverpool providing heavy amounts of attacking pressure.
Speaking on his side’s excellent Anfield record, he said: “we enjoy coming here, I don’t think we played our best game at all. It was probably one of our worst, like on the ball performance, but defensively I thought we looked solid and we took the goals in the right moments.
“We scored a really good well-worked goal so we are pleased with that, it’s good to be able to control a game out,” he added.
Sørensen shone a light on his teams defensive stability and using that strength when it mattered most.
“We have a good defensive record, fifth or something like that in the league so we know we can always rely on that if the game doesn’t flow,” he said.
“We want to be better (going forward) but it’s been a long season, people are tired but we still have a lot of good players who are not in the squad to credit to the girls.”
The 44-year-old continued to reflect on his time so far as the Everton boss and how he wants to ‘build’ going forward.
“It’s been tough, the last two years. We had no money, we had to sell our best players and had one of the thinnest squads in the league by a mile,” he admitted.
“We are here right now and have just gotten past Liverpool, I don’t think anyone would have thought that ten rounds ago.
“I am very excited for the future, I think we have our core in place and then we can add to that.”
