Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta, who officially retired from football in 2024, recently took part in an event to present his new book ‘The Mind Also Plays’.

During the occasion, the legendary midfielder shared his thoughts on the current Barça team led by Hansi Flick, expressing strong optimism about the club’s chances of securing major silverware this season.

Iniesta, a symbol of Barcelona’s golden era, believes that the team is well on track to create another historic chapter.

“I’m living this final stretch of the season with a great sense of optimism,” he said.

“That’s the feeling you get when you watch Barça play now. Everything comes down to the next five or six matches, and hopefully, we can win every title we’re still fighting for.”

Winning the treble

The former Spain international didn’t shy away from openly discussing the possibility of winning the treble—La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League.

“It is not at all an exaggeration to talk about a treble,” Iniesta stated confidently.

“We’re leading La Liga, we’re in the final of the Copa del Rey, and we’re in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“That shows how far the team has come. To go all the way, it takes equal parts talent and the right mentality. These are the kind of games where both are essential.”

A future return to Barcelona?

As much as Iniesta focused on the present, he was also asked about a possible return to FC Barcelona in a different role. Though he didn’t give a firm answer, he certainly didn’t rule it out either.

“I’ve always said I would love to return to Barça,” he admitted.

“But that depends on a lot of factors. Right now, my main wish is to see the club end the season in the best way possible—by lifting every trophy.”

While Iniesta is now focused on new projects off the pitch, his heart clearly remains tied to Barcelona.

His words carry weight not only because of his footballing legacy but also because of the passion and belief he still holds for the club.
