Inter have started keeping tabs on Rocco Reitz, who’s turning heads thanks to his performances with Borussia Moenchengladbach. He’s being tracked by Brighton in particular. His contractual situation is particularly enticing for the suitors, Sky Sports Deutschland reports (via Calciomercato).
The midfielder renewed his deal until 2028 but he’ll have a €20M release clause starting from 2026. He could be a bargain if he continues to grow. He’s already a pillar of his side. He has spent the entirety of his career at the club but two loan spells at Sint-Truiden.
The German club aims to keep Reitz for a few years but might have to rework his contract to protect themselves from the interest coming from Inter and other big clubs.
He joined the side when he was 7 and debuted in the pros at 18. He has amassed 56 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists. The 21-year-old hit the net thrice during his time in Belgium. He has ten caps with Germany U-21 and trained with the senior team ahead of Euro 2024. He can handle every position in the midfield and has been likened to the early Nicolò Barella.
He fits their reported new strategy, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, while seemingly evergreen, won’t keep going forever. They are no strangers to signing talents through the activation of release clauses and they pay close attention to the Bundesliga. Still, it’s an interest that could eventually lead to something concrete only in a year or two.
