After a disappointing end to the 2024 season, Inter Miami has bolstered its attack with the signing of hometown hero and veteran free-agent winger Fafà Picault.
“We’re excited to welcome Fafa to Inter Miami CF. We believe that his pace, skill, and proven MLS track record can bring valuable quality and experience to our front lines," said Inter Miami's President of Football Operations Raúl Sanllehí in a press release.
"We’re looking forward to having him with us to enhance our attacking options as we aim for success across multiple competitions in 2025."
Picault, who spent the 2024 season with the Vancouver Whitecaps will bring speed, agility, and a veteran presence to an Inter Miami squad that will be playing in multiple competitions this year.
The 33-year-old’s versatility allows him to operate on either flank, making him a valuable asset for manager Javier Mascherano who looks to be injecting some pace into the roster in 2025.
Throughout his career in Major League Soccer, Picault has shown consistent production in the final third, with over 200 appearances for six clubs, netting 62 goals in the process.
Born in New York City to Haitian parents, Picault moved to Miami at a young age, where he quickly developed his love for football. His connections to the South Florida area run deep, as he previously played for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers from 2014 to 2015.
Now, back home in Inter Miami colors, Picault will be a vital piece of Mascherano’s puzzle as the men in pink look to exercise the demons that haunted them in last season’s MLS Cup Playoffs.
Joining a star-studded team with the likes of Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez, Picault’s speed, and work ethic will complement the team’s already high-octane attack.
The Haiti international’s ability to stretch defenses and create space will give Miami another attacking avenue when there’s difficulty breaking down a compact low block.
As the club prepares for 2025, the addition of Picault gives the Herons depth in attack all while adding an experienced locker room presence that will, undoubtedly, help Miami’s younger players.
With Miami looking to right the wrongs of last year’s early playoff exit, Picault is exactly the type of player the men in pink need when looking to add to their trophy cabinet.
