Lautaro Martinez feels that today’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Inter Milan is “important, but not decisive for the title.”
The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s match.
Inter take on Juventus in Serie A this evening.
The Derby d’Italia is always a massive match no matter what’s at stake. The rivalry between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri is an historic and bitter one.
But this time around, the match also promises to play a big role in the Serie A title race.
Inter are currently a couple of points behind Napoli in the table. However, they have the chance to go ahead of the Partenopei if they manage to win this evening.
Napoli drew away to Lazio yesterday evening. That has handed Inter the opening to finally get themselves into the driver’s seat in the title race.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez commented that “For the first time in a while we’ve had the week to prepare for this big match.”
The 27-year-old called it “important for the table, and also because it’s a derby.”

“We know how strongly the fans feel about it,” added Martinez.
“It will be a great match to play.”
But Martinez said “no” as to whether or not this could be the decisive match for the Serie A title.
“There are still a lot of matches left to play. And there will be a lot of difficult matches.”
“I don’t think it will be decisive,” he added. “But we certainly know it’s important.”
Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez also gave his thoughts on his own personal form. “I definitely didn’t start the season well,” the Inter captain admitted.
“But then going forward I trained more, and tried to find my best form so I could help my teammates,” he went on.
“Now I’m in a period where I’m doing well. I’m playing well and I’m happy with how I’m doing.”
“But I have to keep working,” Martinez insisted. “I need to keep improving and helping the team.”
