Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi will likely overhaul his starting line-up in Thursday’s Coppa Italia tie against Udinese.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, misfiring captain Lautaro Martinez could move to the bench.
Martinez drew another blank in Serie A, even though Inter humbled Lazio 6-0 on Monday.
However, Inzaghi relied on his team’s formidable strength in depth at the Stadio Olimpico.
Indeed, Inter had six different scorers in Rome, including Nicolo Barella and Federico Dimarco.
But the in-form duo could also drop from the starting XI tomorrow.
With matches coming thick and fast, Inzaghi must carefully manage his players’ playing time.
Therefore, Barella and Dimarco could make way for Davide Frattesi and Carlos Augusto.
As for Martinez, he will probably surrender his place to Mehdi Taremi.
Despite making six UEFA Champions League starts and adding ten more Serie A appearances, Taremi has only netted once.
As such, he’ll be heavily motivated to impress Inzaghi in another cup game.
Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram may retain his place in attack after bagging his 11th league goal earlier this week.
Indeed, Thuram could partner up with Taremi up front as Inter aim to defeat Udinese for the second time this term.
