Erling Haaland was on target for Norway as they kicked off their World Cup qualifiers with a 5-0 victory over Moldova.

The City striker is aiming to help his country reach the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

And Norway made a perfect start to their Group I campaign in Chisinau with a resounding victory.

They were ahead inside five minutes through Julian Ryerson before Haaland doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute with his 39th goal for Norway.

Haaland, who was replaced in the 78th minute, took his tally for the season to 37 goals for club and country, with 29 of those for the Blues.

Thelo Aasgaard, Alexander Sorloth and Aron Donnum were also on the scoresheet for an emphatic win.

Norway are back in action on Tuesday 25 March when they play Israel in Hungary.
