The nature of the project at Paris Saint-Germain has shifted significantly over the space of the last two years. No longer a team of big-name superstars, the project is now centred around high-potential prospects, many of whom are French.

Désiré Doué (19) is one of the poster boys of this new approach. He has become a France international since making the move to PSG from formative club Stade Rennais in the summer. Despite a slow start, Doué has become an important player for Les Parisiens and already has 23 goal contributions in all competitions (11 goals, 12 assists). Over the weekend, he netted the only goal of the game as PSG beat SCO Angers to secure a fourth-consecutive Ligue 1 title.

There are no signs of PSG relenting in their attempts to bring the brightest prospects from around France to the club. Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki (21) and AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche (23) have been heavily linked with a move to the Parc des Princes.

Akliouche and Cherki expected to make summer moves

Speaking on Tuesday, Doué evoked the pair’s potential arrivals. “It will be their choice and that of the club. I made the choice to come to PSG and I am very happy about it. It is a club that makes lots of players dream. It is a great project,” said the France international ahead of PSG’s meeting with Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League.

AKliouche is expected to leave formative club Monaco this summer, whilst Cherki, the subject of an approach from PSG last summer, is also expected to leave his formative club. He is garnering interest from across Europe.
