Juventus, Milan and the Italy national team have all wished a happy birthday to the legendary Roberto Baggio, who turns 58 on Tuesday.

Italy and Serie A sides celebrate Baggio on 58th birthday

The 1993 Ballon d’Or winner, and former star of the Italy national team has received messages from the majority of Serie A’s biggest clubs, most of whom he ended up representing during his famed playing career.

“A Ballon d’Or birthday,” Juventus wrote on their social media channels on Tuesday morning. Baggio won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup during his five-year spell in Turin.

“An icon of the Italian game,” wrote Milan on their social media channels. Il Divin Codino spent two years with the Rossoneri between 1995 and 1997.

Fiorentina, where Baggio was given his first Serie A opportunity, were also among the well-wishers. The club famously stuck by an 18-year-old Baggio, and funded his surgery and rehab when he suffered a career-threatening injury two days before his transfer had been officially completed.

Baggio spent the end of the 1990s in San Siro with Inter, who also wrote ‘Buon Compliano’ on social media on Tuesday.

The Italy national team have also posted a flashback to one of his most memorable moments in the Azzurri shirt to celebrate his 58th birthday.
