Leko starts: The predicted Charlton Athletic XI to play Sunderland on Saturday | OneFootball

Charlton are hovering in mid-table in the Sky Bet League One as they prepare to host Sunderland at The Valley on Saturday.

The Addicks are currently 16 and on a poor run of form having lost their last five matches, including a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Their last win coming over League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon in early February.

Manager Johnnie Jackson had the most successful start of any Charlton Athletic manager when he won seven of his first 10 league matches, but since then, the Addicks have suffered injury problems which have seen them struggle.

They face a tough test at home to Sunderland on Saturday, with the Black Cats currently sixth and chasing promotion to the Championship.

That being said, here is the predicted XI we think Johnnie Jackson will select for the visit of Sunderland.

Jackson could favour a 3 at the back formation for this one, with Craig MacGillivray in goal, and a back three of Akin Famewo, Samuel Lavelle and Chris Gunter in front of him.

Adam Matthews suffered concussion last time out, but should be cleared to play on Saturday, whilst we expect Ben Purrington to get the nod ahead of Juan Castillo.

The midfield three of Alex Gibley, George Dobson, and Albie Morgan will likely remain unchanged, meanwhile, there could be a change in personnel in the front line.

We expect Mason Burstow to keep his place in the front two, but Elliot Lee could be replaced by Jonathan Leko.come in and replace Jonathan Leko.

Lee, familiar playing in a midfield role, has also been deployed up top this season – including in last weekend’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday – and has three goals and four assists to his name this season, but we expect Leko to get the nod on Saturday.
