It was a case of all’s well that ends well for Lionel Messi and Argentina in Sunday’s Copa América final.

Kick-off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami had to be delayed by 75 minutes due to crowd issues, and Argentina were dealt a huge blow when captain Messi left the field in tears with an injury in the 64th-minute.

With nothing to separate the two teams after 90 minutes, the final went to extra-time, where Lautaro Martínez’s 112th-minute goal ultimately proved decisive.

And Messi was all smiles again when the reigning world champions lifted the Copa América for a second successive time, and the 16th time in Argentina’s history.

Here was the match-winner’s emotional reaction to the final whistle.

And it was Ángel Di María who won the Player of the Match award.

While the final ended in disappointment for Colombia, it was their midfield maestro James Rodríguez who scooped the Player of the Tournament award.
