Ronald Araujo’s future has been in focus lately, especially following his underwhelming display against Real Betis over the weekend.
That, coupled with the fact that Araujo has found it difficult to establish himself as a surefire starter against Hansi Flick, has led to question marks over his long-term future at the club.
Therefore, it didn’t come as a surprise to many when it was reported that Liverpool are eyeing a move for the Uruguayan international as a potential long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
Manchester United, too, have emerged as a potential suitor for Araujo as the Red Devils look to shore up their defensive rank in the coming summer.
However, a recent report from Fichajes suggests both Manchester United and Liverpool have ruled out a move for Ronald Araujo in the summer.

Neither of them are expected to make a move for the Barcelona defender, who appears likely to stay in Catalonia for the time being.
Man United, for their part, could certainly do away with players such as Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof. But their absolute priority for the summer is to add more reinforcements in the attacking unit.
The Red Devils will only consider a move for a new defender if Harry Maguire leaves. That too, the club’s prime target for now is Everton’s Jarrod Branthwaite.
As for Liverpool, the Reds were indeed interested in Araujo as a potential replacement for Van Dijk, whose future has come under scrutiny.
However, recent reports suggest that the Dutchman might now sign a new contract with the Premier League leaders, leading to them ending their pursuit of the Barça captain.
Keeping these factors in mind, it won’t be surprising to see Araujo remaining at Barcelona beyond this summer and remain a part of Flick’s plans for next season.
