Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at Real Madrid has shifted the dynamic among the team’s wingers, pushing others down the pecking order. From the outset, there was speculation about whether the French star’s presence might create challenges with playing time for everyone involved.

The 2024-25 season has been a rollercoaster for the Spanish club, marked by both highs and lows in their first campaign with Mbappé. But looking ahead, will the current setup hold beyond this season? When the summer transfer window rolls around, could one player be eyeing a move elsewhere?

With Mbappé and Vinicius Jr. as the clear focal points for Real Madrid’s attack, Rodrygo might find himself on the outside looking in.

What’s the latest on Rodrygo possibly leaving Real Madrid?

Liverpool could be in the market for a superstar winger this upcoming summer as Mohamed Salah has yet to sign a contract extension. As a result, the Premier League side could be looking at life after Salah.

The Reds will likely be planning for potential replacements for Salah, and former Anfield favorite Daniel Murphy has encouraged the Reds to target Real Madrid winger Rodrygo in the summer of 2025.

“If Liverpool wanted one player to replace Mohamed Salah, the obvious choice for me would be Rodrygo from Real Madrid,” Murphy said (h/t TEAMTalk). “I think he’s a wonderful talent. I don’t know what his contract situation is in Madrid, but I think of him because we’ve seeing him play at the highest level and winning Champions Leagues in the last couple of years.

“His numbers aren’t like Salah’s but he’s a match winner. He can beat people, he’s quick, he’s playing in an environment where he’s playing under huge pressure every week and dealing with it. Additionally they’ve got so many talented players at Real Madrid that maybe there is room for one of them to leave. So that would be the obvious standout for me.”

Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport recently reported that Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid as they eye a potential summer move. If the player grows unhappy with his role or playing time, PSG could make their move. However, they aren’t the only club following this closely.

As for the potential transfer fee, Transfermarkt puts the Brazilian’s possible cost at €100 million.
