Manchester United fans now have to pay 23% more for their replica kits than they did five years ago.

The Sun has reported outrage among Premier League football fans about kit prices, with consumer expert Jane Hawkes saying the prices are “not remotely justifiable”.

“Shirt prices seem to have been soaring since the pandemic and, with no big rise in production costs, it is hard to see any justification,” she said.

United used to only bring out one new kit – home away or third – every year, but nowadays all three are replaced annually.

As each is now £80, it has become prohibitively expensive for fans to keep up with all the changes.

Another issue for United fans is whether to buy official kit when it supports Glazer ownership of the club. #GlazersOut campaigners continue to urge fans to boycott official club merchandising.

One solution is to turn to an excellent independent kit seller such as GoatKits Store. They offer shirts and boots that are identical to those sold through the official outlets at a fraction of the price.

Mike at GoatKits told The Peoples Person “as a passionate football fan, I know how important it is to wear a kit that not only represents your favourite team but also feels just right on the pitch. That’s the philosophy behind GoatKits—a brand dedicated to delivering top-tier football kits and boots at unbeatable prices.

“Our kits are produced by the same manufacturers as the major brands, using identical materials and fabrics. The quality is second to none, and you’d be hard-pressed to find any difference between our products and those of the biggest names in the industry.

“Our prices are so much lower than those of the big brands because we don’t have the massive advertising budgets or costly sponsorships. Instead, we focus on delivering the best value to our customers with a small margin.”

GoatKits have United’s 2024/25 home and away kits available now with the third kit coming soon. They are also offering an exclusive 30% discount with the code [TPP30] to The Peoples Person readers. This means you can get your hands on the new shirts for around £25 each. Boots are also available at 70% off normal retail price, and they have great reviews on Trustpilot.

For United fans, reputable third party vendors such as GoatKits offer the best of both worlds: United shirts at the fraction of the rip-off official prices, while being able to support the Red Devils without lining the Glazers’ pockets.
