Manchester United have tabled a €30 million bid for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu, according to The Athletic.

The Reds are one of several clubs eyeing the Danish international and have decided to test the waters with a second bid.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Serie A side will accept the new offer for the 20-year-old. They value him at €40 million, and despite United upping their offer, it might not be enough to secure their top January target.

New boss Ruben Amorim is eager to bolster his squad with Luke Shaw constantly battling injuries. The club has identified the Dorgu as a perfect fit for the Portuguese tactician’s football.

He can slot in at left-wing-back in the 3-4-2-1 system. Interestingly, he can also provide cover on the right flank.

The former Nordsjaelland star has bagged three goals and one assist in 20 Serie A appearances. He has helped keep three clean sheets while winning 53% of his duels.

Dorgu broke out last season and attracted attention from Chelsea as they sought to bolster their defence, but they never made an official move for the highly-rated talent.

This winter, Napoli also showed interest in his services, with the Partenopei eager to strengthen their ranks as they eye a fourth Scudetto.

The Danish youth international has caught the eye in Serie A since joining Lecce from Nordsjaelland in 2022.

His arrival would provide much-needed depth at right wing-back, a position currently filled by Amad Diallo or the versatile Noussair Mazraoui.

On the left, Diogo Dalot has been the preferred choice in the absence of Luke Shaw and the recently returned Tyrell Malacia.

United hope this latest offer will convince Lecce to sell, but negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days. The left-back position has been a problem for some time, and the Reds will be eager to sort it out.
