The latest Man Utd transfer news in the summer window, featuring Jarrad Branthwaite, Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Ivan Toney, Jadon Sancho and more.

Manchester United are one of the few clubs yet to make a signing since the window opened a month ago, and now they’ve been dealt a major setback for one of their top targets.

The Red Devils have made two bids for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, the second of which would have seen the Toffees net up to £50 million, but both were rejected out of hand.

The English centre-back is reportedly keen to move to Old Trafford, but it looks as if that won’t be happening thanks to a new development.

Aston Villa are on the verge of signing Amadou Onano from the Merseyside outfit in a deal worth around £50m, with the midfielder set to have a medical after agreeing personal terms on a long-term contract.

This has a knock on effect for United, as Everton are unwilling to sell Branthwaite if Onana leaves Goodison Park, according to The Athletic. They value him at £70m and it would likely take an offer around or above that to get them to change their mind.

Man Utd looking to sell duo

While Man United endeavour to bring their first new player through the door, the clearout of their current squad continues apace.

Donny van de Beek has finally left the club, joining Girona for £500k this week, joining Omari Forson, Alvaro Fernandes and four out-of-contract in departing this summer. Willy Kambwala is also set to join Villarreal, while Mason Greenwood’s move to Marseille is at an advanced stage.

Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen could be the next squad members to find a new club following a report from the Manchester Evening News.

The outlet claims that United are “trying hard” to offload the Swedish centre-back, whose contract runs out in 2025. This is the last window when they can get a transfer fee for the 29-year-old as they set about overhauling their backline.

United will also ‘listen to offers’ for Eriksen after the Danish midfielder played a bit part role in the 2023/24 campaign, making 28 appearances in all competitions.

Man Utd eye Toney

Despite being close to signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £35m and already having Rasmus Hojlund on their books, Man United could make a move for Ivan Toney.

The Red Devils are ‘interested’ in the Brentford and England striker, according to BILD reporter Christian Falk. The 28-year-old’s agent has ‘informed’ the Bees that the forward ‘wants’ to join United.

Toney’s contract with the west London outfit expires next summer, meaning this is likely the last window they can get a significant fee for their star man. He’s also been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs this year.

Swap deal?

Man United have put in their opening offer of €25m (£21m) to Fenerbahce for Ferdi Kadioglu, a key transfer target for Erik ten Hag, according to reports in Türkiye (via Teamtalk).

The left-back, who was born in the Netherlands but lines out for the Turkish national team, impressed at Euro 2024 and could arrive as a backup for injury-prone Luke Shaw.

Fener boss Jose Mourinho is said to be opposed to letting Kadioglu leave this summer, although it is suggested he could tell his former club to send them Jadon Sancho in a potential swap deal.

The England winger’s Old Trafford career appears to be over after Ten Hag was handed a new contract to remain as manager until 2026. The pair had a falling out last season which saw Sancho join Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

Meanwhile, United have joined Arsenal and Aston Villa in the battle to sign Girona and Ukraine winger Viktor Tsygankov, according to AS.
