Red Devils kick off Premier League season at home to Fulham on Friday

Manchester United have started the new season much like they finished the last, with several injury problems.

New signing Leny Yoro has been ruled out for the opening months with Luke Shaw now confirmed to be carrying a calf problem.

Rasmus Hojlund will also sit out the Premier League kick-off, which comes at Old Trafford on Friday night when Man Utd face Fulham.

Victor Lindelof and Tyrell Malacia are also ruled out but Harry Maguire made his comeback from a short absence in the Community Shield.

Leny Yoro

Big summer signing Yoro impressed on his debut against Rangers in pre-season but then suffered a foot injury on his second appearance, a friendly against Arsenal in the United States.

The defender has undergone surgery and is expected to miss around three months.

Potential return date: October 2024

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw has not played for United since February but did make his comeback during England’s run to the Euro 2024 final.

The left-back will miss the start of the season, the club have confirmed due to a calf problem picked up in training.

Potential return date: September 2024

Rasmus Hojlund

Hojlund suffered an injury against Arsenal in America and is expected to see him miss around six weeks.

Potential return date: September 2024

Victor Lindelof

Linked with a move away, Lindelof was unable to feature in the Community Shield after being taken off in the friendly defeat to Liverpool due to an injury. No timeframe has been given but it is reportedly minor.

Potential return date: August/September 2024

Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia has not played for United since May 2023 but Ten Hag recently hinted he could make a return in the relatively near future.

"He had setbacks in his rehab process,” said the United boss.

“Now we've turned a point and it's positive. He will return soon on the pitch. I don't think then it will take long before he's returning in the team training."
