Manchester United’s transfer business is expected to continue into the final days of the window with the club eyeing another signing or two before the end of August.

Additionally, United are open to offloading some first team players to make room in the squad for any new additions.

Christian Eriksen is one of the first team players up for sale, with INEOS hoping to move the midfielder on before he leaves on a free next summer.

As reported by the Athletic, United are looking for a fee of at least £5 million for the Danish international, who joined on a free from Brentford in 2022.

Former club Ajax looked like a potential destination for the 32-year-old but with the Dutch giants needing to sell before they buy, cold water has been poured on the deal.

Eriksen would be open to the move but as things stand, the chances of a reunion looks unlikely this summer.

Given United’s wishes to add another midfielder to their ranks, any funds raised from the sale of Eriksen would go into the transfer kitty to get the extra body over the line.

PSG man Manuel Ugarte remains the number one target to replace Eriksen, with United now exploring a loan-to-buy option to prize him away from Paris.

The Uruguayan has agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford club leaving the structure of the deal the only issue to be resolved.

United will be hoping Eriksen can muster some interest between now and the end of the window with the player’s time at Old Trafford clearly up.

The Dane’s struggles to keep up with the frantic nature of Erik ten Hag’s midfield has seen him drop down the pecking order and a move is surely the best option for both parties.

Eriksen wasn’t involved in the opening day win against Fulham and isn’t expected to feature as United travel to Brighton this weekend in hope of securing back-to-back wins at the start of the new campaign.
