Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho has been recalled to the Argentina national team ahead of their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Garnacho has endured a mixed season with United. On the one hand, he has notched a decent 11 goals and 10 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.

However, his performances haven’t always been the best, with his decision-making in the final third especially proving to be a constant source of frustration for supporters.

The 20-year-old’s finishing in particular has been below par and at times, has dearly cost United valuable points.

His displays cost him a place in the Argentina team during the March international break. As a result, he missed the side’s games against Uruguay and Brazil.

However, in recent weeks, Garnacho has improved slightly under Ruben Amorim and it appears this uptick in form has not gone unnoticed by Scaloni.

Garnacho has been recalled to the Albiceleste’s set-up for their June World Cup qualifiers.

Reigning champions Argentina are set to face a struggling Chile side away on June 5, before returning to Buenos Aires to host sixth-placed Colombia on June 10.

Garnacho will battle for a spot in the squad alongside a host of attacking stars, including Lionel Messi, Nico Paz, Julián Álvarez, Lautaro Martínez, Valentín Castellanos, Nicolás González, Giovani Simeone, and Ángel Correa.

The United winger is still waiting for his breakout moment on the international stage, but Argentina’s upcoming fixtures could provide the perfect opportunity for him to shine.

Meanwhile, Garnacho’s full attention will be on Friday’s meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and then next week’s Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

If the Red Devils triumph over Tottenham at San Mames, they will not only get their hands on a trophy but also book their slot in next season’s Champions League.
