Melvine Malard and Leah Galton got the goals as Marc Skinner’s side continued both their strong home form and Barclays Women’s Super League title push.
Manchester United started the stronger side and they created the first chance of the game, as Dominque Janssen took aim 25 yards out, but the ball sailed just over the crossbar.
It was Malard who opened the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute. Ella Toone delivered a pass to the forward who wrong-footed visiting keeper Janina Leitzig and slotted the ball home.
There were then calls for a Manchester United penalty as the ball hit the arm of Sam Tierney in the box, but the referee was quick to wave the appeals away.
Leicester City’s best chance of the first half fell Missy Goodwin’s way. She breezed past Aoife Mannion and broke into the Manchester United box, but her shot lacked power and accuracy.
Galton got Manchester United’s second goal just before half-time. Malard played the ball to the winger, who managed to lift her shot over Leitzig and into the net.
Leicester City were much better after the break but Yuka Momiki failed to severely trouble Phallon Tullis-Joyce with an effort while Tierney and Asmita Ale couldn’t direct shots on target as the game ended 2-0.
Following this afternoon’s result, Manchester United remain in second place in the Barclays Women’s Super League table while Leicester City still have work to do to secure their top tier status.
