According to Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille are close to agreeing personal terms with Malmo central defender Derek Cornelius (26). The Canadian international is enticed by the potential opportunity to play under the management of newly-appointed OM head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Whilst an agreement on personal terms is close between the 26-year-old and Les Olympiens, Marseille are in discussions with Malmo over a potential fee. The Swedish club are set to command a fee in the region of €3.5m for Cornelius. The central defender is keen to move to the South of France.

Other Ligue 1 clubs interested

Marseille are not the only team showing an interest in Cornelius; several other clubs from Ligue 1 are also interested in gaining his services this summer. Brest and Lille are also showing a potential interest in the defender, Hawkins reports. However, it is OM who look to be the most advanced club in the race at the moment.
