Olympique de Marseille’s Valentin Rongier (29) could be out until the end of the season with a fractured kneecap, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Rongier suffered the injury during a 0-0 draw against Lille OSC on 4th November. The Frenchman then underwent surgery on the injury later in November and at the time it was expected that he would be absent for around three months. It had been hoped that he would make a return in February, but that has not come to pass.

Desperate to make a return and help Marseille earn a European place, Rongier has, however, had to delay his return as he is still feeling pain in the affected area. L’Équipe reports that he is a long way away from making his return, adding that it is now probable that he will not feature again for Les Phocéens before the end of the season, which constitutes a blow for interim manager Jean-Louis Gasset.
