MIAMI – The United States won 2-nil against Morocco to collect its first victory in Group C of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024 on Tuesday at Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia.

After debuting with a loss, the U.S. U-20 women’s national team started trying to get an early goal. Riley Jackson attempted a shot from long range in the 10’, but the ball would go over the crossbar.

Allyson Sentnor intercepted the ball in the midfield in the 23’, converting the turnover into an attempt, but the ball went wide the post.

The United States finally broke the deadlock in the 48’ from the boots of Yuna McCormack, who found the back of the net after receiving the ball inside the penalty area.

Maddie Dahlien extended the lead in the 90’+6’, took advantage of a mistake from the Moroccan players on the line to steal the ball and send it to the bottom left corner to secure the first victory for the United States.

This is the United States' first win and three points at the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup, lifting them into second place in Group C on goal difference. Their next and final group stage match will be on Saturday against Paraguay, where they can directly qualify for the knockout round.
