The versatile forward has signed a four-year contract with Boro, joining from Bundesliga side Mainz after an impressive loan spell with Huddersfield Town last season.

Preceding him was the arrival of Luke Ayling, as Boro's loan star from last season penned a two-year deal after becoming a free agent following the expiration of his Leeds United contract.

Carrick and head of football Kieran Scott are now pressing one with other targets, as well as attempting to source moves away for some fringe players too.

Football League World takes a look at the latest transfer news coming out of the Riverside Stadium.

Turkish interest in Barlaser

Dan Barlaser grew into a larger role for Middlesbrough last season, making 41 appearances in all competitions for Carrick's side.

His performance levels have seemingly done enough to catch the eye of potential suitors abroad, as Turkish news outlet 61 Saat have revealed Trabzonspor have contacted both the club, and the player himself over a move for Barlaser.

The Super Lig side finished third in the Turkish top-flight last season, and thus would be able to offer the former Rotherham United midfielder the opportunity to play European football next season.

Teesside Live have confirmed that there has been an enquiry made by Trabzonspor for the 27-year-old, and that talks are taking place as Boro open to selling him for the right price.

It is not yet known what type of fee Middlesbrough will be looking to receive for Barlaser, but it can be expected that they will at least want to make back the reported £900,000 they paid for him in January 2023.

Aidan Morris latest

Middlesbrough received their first big transfer breakthrough of the summer in mid-June, with The Athletic confirming that Boro had agreed a $4m (approximately £3.1m) deal with Columbus Crew for midfielder Aidan Morris.

They reported that the 22-year-old had left his USA U23 national team camp to fly to England so they could finish ironing out the details of the deal.

Morris made it clear that he wanted to play at least one more game for MLS side Columbus Crew before completing his move, as somewhat of a procession to the club's supporters.

That's exactly what the USA international did, having played 19 minutes against New York City FC on 15 June, before a 90-minute display that included an assist against Inter Miami in the early hours of Thursday 20 June (British time).

Teesside Live report that Middlesbrough have been happy to delay Morris' arrival as a Middlesbrough player, and the date of which he will officially be revealed as Boro's latest signing is not yet known.

Hoppe to be sold

It's fair to say that Matthew Hoppe has not had the Middlesbrough career he, nor the club had envisioned when he arrived from RCD Mallorca back in the summer of 2022.

The USA international arrived as a player with bags of potential, as evidenced having already been capped numerous times by his national side, and after bagging a Bundesliga hat-trick for Schalke as a teenager.

Now 23, The Northern Echo report that Hoppe is not a part of Carrick's plans on Teesside, and is free to leave the club this summer should Boro find a suitable dance partner.

They also state that a move back to the MLS, following his most recent loan spell with San Jose Earthquakes, is the most likely destination for Hoppe.

But he and Middlesbrough may have some waiting to do yet before any exit can be sanctioned, as the MLS transfer window does not open until 18 July.

Blackpool want Coulson back

26-year-old Hayden Coulson is a player that has divided Boro fans throughout his Middlesbrough career, with some believing the academy graduate deserved more of an opportunity in the first team squad.

What could never be argued over was his work-rate and energy that he brought to the team, with this being just one of the reasons why Blackpool fans have fallen in love with Boro's academy graduate.

Speaking via a Blackpool fans forum via The Blackpool Gazette, the Tangerines' sporting director David Downes admitted that Coulson is a player the club would like to sign permanently this summer.

He said: "Hayden (Coulson) is a Middlesbrough player with a year left so ultimately if they do want to give him away and do something with ourselves- we’d definitely be in that discussion to bring him back.

"Ultimately, he does have another year, and a year option."

Coulson is likely to be a player that Middlesbrough would be happy to sell this summer, with Lukas Engel and Alex Bangura both quality options at left-back, whilst Boro would be keen to do a deal for Ryan Giles should the opportunity present itself.
