Alexis Saelemaekers is having a fantastic second part of the season at AS Roma, and it has forced reflections from the AC Milan management.

As MilanNews reports, Saelemaekers – who will turn 26 on June 27 – is one of the names that Milan could cash in on during the summer. The aim would be collect a good amount of money to reinvest to strengthen the team during the next summer, under a new coach and sporting director.

As a reminder, towards the end of the summer window Milan and Roma agreed a dry loan exchange between Saelemaekers and Tammy Abraham. Consequently, both clubs have the right to make an independent assessment on the market value of each player.

Saelemaekers is doing very well, with 21 appearances and six goals (his career high) scored so far in the league as well as several assists that have contributed to Roma’s red hot recent form. Under Claudio Ranieri his value has risen too, to at least €20m.

In January, Roma’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi had talks with the Milan management to begin discussions on the valuation of Saelemaekers, but also on that of Abraham. The Diavolo want to keep the two operations separate.

If Roma were not to put forward a satisfactory economic proposal, Alexis would return to Milanello and could thus potentially play for a chance of staying, which would lead the club to have to try to sell Samuel Chukwueze.
