Thiago Scuro has confirmed that Moatasem Al-Musrati (29) will leave AS Monaco at the end of the season. The Principality club will not opt to make the midfielder’s loan permanent.
Al-Musrati joined Monaco from Besiktas in January on a loan deal with a purchase option. His signing came after Jordan Henderson’s move from Ajax fell through. However, Monaco’s CEO, Scuro, has confirmed that the deal will not be made permanent.
“We communicated that we are not going to apply the buy option,” began Scuro in an interview, attended by Get French Football News. He then went on to explain the reasons for Al-Musrati’s departure. “He scored one of our most important goals of the season but clearly, we are looking for a different profile of player. He helped us a lot, off the pitch too. There are only positive things to say, but it is just a technical decision. We knew that he was a holding No.6. Our play style requires more dynamism. We expected to help him develop to be this, but for different reasons, it didn’t happen as we needed.”
He leaves having played 11 games for Monaco, 10 of which came in Ligue 1. He netted once in that time and registered one assist.
